Designer Drugs : Tour Dates & "Prism" Video - Nerdy Frames

NEW YORK CITY'SDESIGNER DRUGSPACT WITH ULTRA MUSICFOR THE Loss OF "Through THE PRISM"AND DEBUT ALBUM'HARDCORE/SOFTCORE' OUT FEBRUARY 2011Widely known across the electronic/dance realm for their wild remixes, which have included about 50 reworked tracks for Mariah Carey, Annie, Thieves Like Us, Little Boots, Fischerspooner and more, New York City's DESIGNER DRUGS have signed with Ultra Music to turn their hotly anticipated debut HARDCORE/SOFTCORE in February 2011.

Enthusiasts of punishing electro-industrial punk will get their first preference of the DESIGNER DRUGS album via its lead single "Through The Prism" available this week.Where past productions and remixes have been on the poppier end of the musical spectrum, HARDCORE/SOFTCORE conjures up a darker, edgier vibe-think the throbbing, industrial-heavy opening club scene in The Doom Generation-yet still retains a melodic center on many of the tracks. With its visually psychedelic video that features DESIGNER DRUGS' Michael Vincent Patrick and Theodore Paul Nelson along with the track's vocalist homeless Brooklyn rapper Cerebral Vortex, "Through The Prism" is a quintessential new electro gem. Further details about the album will be revealed at a late date. Meanwhile, fans can see the "Through The Prism" video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFf_XL5jQYMWhile it does mark their debut album, HARDCORE/SOFTCORE functions as often as a climax of a decade's work as it does the following phase in a bourgeoning career. As the electro scene started to expand in the early 2000s, Michael Vincent Patrick and Theodore Paul Nelson built a studio in Philadelphia and christened themselves DESIGNER DRUGS, balancing an in-demand DJing schedule with near-constant need for track remixes. Now with Nelson currently in medical school on his way to get a bona fide doctor and Patrick recently relocated to NYC's Lower East Side, the duo has yet constitute a way to hold up their busy musical careers.Spend a few minutes at one of DESIGNER DRUGS' live shows and you'll see the normally humble pair, spurred on by the intense vitality of their music, transform into a different beast. "It gets pretty wild," admits Michael. "Even though we're mellow, there's heaps of stage dive and almost slam dancing. It's next level dance club sh*# that almost morphs into that '90s hardcore/punk vibe."
